Thuram available on a free transfer

Manchester United and Chelsea have been handed a big boost in signing Marcus Thuram at the end of the season.

The Frenchman has been in fine form for Borussia Monchengladbach this term, bagging 14 goals and four assists.

As a result, he has been linked with several top European sides and it is now confirmed that he will leave on a free transfer.

Thuram's contract expires at the end of June and Gladbach sporting director Roland Virkus has confirmed his departure.

Speaking to Sport1, he said: "We have decided to let go of Marcus Thuram. We have to accept it, there are even bigger clubs where Marcus could go."

The news should come as a huge boost for the Red Devils and Blues, who have been monitoring his progress recently.

The duo were linked with Thuram during the January transfer window, but the striker decided to stay until the summer.

He is expected to make his future decision at the end of the season and may prefer to join a club in the Champions League.
