Chelsea yet to open contract talks with Croatian star
Chelsea are yet to open contract talks with midfielder Mateo Kovacic, according to The Mirror.
The Croatian has been a key player for the Blues in the centre of the park and he is currently the de facto captain.
Despite this, the club are yet to make any progress over a renewal and this could pave the way for his exit.
Kovacic's current deal expires at the end of next season and the Blues could be tempted to sell him this summer.
The 2018 World Cup finalist is unlikely to be short of offers with Liverpool, Man Utd and Man City keeping tabs.
Kovacic has excelled with his work rate in the Premier League and this has apparently impressed his admirers.
Chelsea could be forced to sell him for around £30m if they can't negotiate a new deal with him by the summer.
Aside from Kovacic, Mason Mount could also part ways with the club with his deal expiring in June next year.
