Chelsea not giving up on Mason Mount?
Chelsea have not given up on extending the contract of midfielder Mason Mount, according to The Athletic.
The England international has been a key player for the Blues over the past four years but his future is uncertain.
His current deal expires in June 2024 and the club have yet to find an agreement with Mount over a renewal.
While Mount has no concerns over the wages, he does not agree with the proposed contract length of eight years.
This has created a stumbling block but Chelsea remain optimistic of convincing him to prolong his contract.
They plan to hold a fresh round of negotiations with Mount in the coming weeks in order to find a proper solution.
If there is no breakthrough, Chelsea may have no choice but to sanction his sale at the end of the ongoing campaign.
Liverpool are reportedly waiting behind the scenes to capitalise on any disagreement. Mount is a top target for them.
