Man City and Arsenal show interest in Portuguese midfield starlet
Both Manchester City and Arsenal are interested in Benfica's defensive midfielder Rafael Luis, with the 18-year-old starlet ready to leave his home country for the Premier League during this transfer window. Described as a wonderkid in Portugal, the player has yet to have made his full first-team debut but already has impressed some of Europe's top sides sufficiently to make an offer for his services.
Man City have been seen several faces head for the exit door, whilst Arsenal have been very active bringing in new players during the transfer window. A particular concern for City is the lack of defensive midfield talent, and Luis is seen as one for the future as opposed to the 2022/23 season, much the same as Arsenal's youth management.
A transfer fee of 30 million euros has already been mentioned, despite the player's limited experience.
City hope that Portuguese captain Ruben Dias can help persuade Rafael Luis to make the move to the Etihad as opposed to Arsenal, and the club are confident a deal can be agreed during this transfer window that will allow the midfielder to return on loan to Benfica next season.
