Iranian forward set for Spurs

Tottenham are interested in Iranian international striker Mehdi Taremi, with the 31-year-old forward considered as a replacement for Harry Kane. The striker, who currently plays for Porto, has caught the eye since making a move to the club from Rio Ave in 2020.

The forward has 36 goals in 68 appearances for his country and is considered the best player of his generation.

Tottenham are likely to sell Harry Kane to Bayern Munich this summer in a deal worth £85 million as the striker heads into the final year of his contract at White Hart Lane, with the club are forced to sell a player desperate to win trophies.

Surprisingly, the North London outfit will move for Taremi as a replacement for Kane, who doesn't appear to fit the bill long-term at the club but is seen as an immediate alternative to the England international striker.

Prior to joining Rio Ave, Taremi played in his home country, playing for Shahin Bushehr, Iranjavan, Persepolis and Al-Gharafa.

Last season the striker bagged 22 goals in 33 Primeira Liga games for Porto.
