Chelsea ready British record bid to sign Moises Caicedo

Chelsea close to Caicedo deal

Chelsea are prepared to make a British record bid to sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo this summer.

The Blues have been in regular contact with the Seagulls for the 21-year-old and they are now on the verge of landing him.

They recently made an offer of £100m for the youngster, but Liverpool tried to beat them to his signature with a £110m proposal.

However, Caicedo has made it clear that he would prefer to join the Blues, and the club are now lining up a new offer.

The west London giants have decided to pay a British record fee of £115m and they will submit the proposal tomorrow.

Caicedo has developed into one of the most sought-after defensive midfielders. He has been compared to N'Golo Kante.

He should be a fantastic signing for the Blues, but there will be questions raised over the huge outlay to land his signature.

The Blues could have signed him for around £100m, had they been pro-active and avoided the late interest from the Reds.
