Chelsea make fresh bid to sign Belgian star
Chelsea have made a fresh bid worth £55 million to sign Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia this summer.
The Blues are currently in advanced talks with Brighton for the purchase of Moises Caicedo for around £115m.
However, they are also interested in signing Lavia from the Saints, and they are presently in pole position to land him.
Liverpool recently made a third offer of £45m to the Saints for Lavia, and this was followed up by Chelsea's £48m proposal.
The Blues have now made a renewed £55m bid for the Belgian teenager, and are confident of getting a deal over the line.
The west London giants are short in the defensive midfield department after losing Mateo Kovacic and N'Golo Kante.
Enzo Fernandez has the ability to play from the role, but the Argentine is more comfortable operating in the number 8 spot.
The arrival of Caicedo and Lavia should provide the World Cup winner with the freedom to express himself this season.
