Arsenal confirm fourth signing of the summer
Arsenal have confirmed their fourth signing of the summer transfer window with the acquisition of David Raya from Brentford.
The Spain international was the one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League last term, and the Gunners have made a big statement by signing him.
Aaron Ramsdale has been good between the sticks, but the club could be looking for an upgrade in terms of distribution.
Raya completed over 400 long balls in the top-flight last term which is nearly three times higher than what Ramsdale managed.
This could be a key reason behind the Gunners' decision to sign him. It remains to be seen how manager Mikel Arteta handles the situation.
Ramsdale started the season opener against Nottingham Forest, but could not keep a clean sheet after a late goal from Taiwo Awoniyi.
He is expected to continue in goal against Crystal Palace on the road, but any error could pave the way for Raya to replace him.
Raya has signed for the Gunners on a season-long loan deal, but the club have the option to make the move a permanent one.
