Erik ten Hag explains Harry Maguire's absence vs Spurs
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed that Harry Maguire was sidelined for the Tottenham Hotspur game with a minor injury.
The England international was an unused substitute against Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier on Monday, but he was absent from the matchday squad to face Spurs.
Speaking after the game, the Red Devils boss revealed that Maguire sustained a minor setback in the last training session and it was the reason behind his unavailability.
Ten Hag said: "He has a little problem in the last training session."
Maguire was recently linked with a move to West Ham United. The Red Devils accepted a transfer fee from the Hammers, but Maguire refused to agree personal terms.
Ten Hag has no issues with the centre-back staying beyond the summer, but he has no guarantee of playing time. It could directly impact his selection for the national team.
Gareth Southgate has already warned Maguire that his starting spot could be taken by someone else if he continues to struggle for first-team football at club level.
