Chelsea complete signing of Serbian goalkeeper
Chelsea have completed the signing of New England Revolution goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic for €15 million.
The Blues recently permitted Kepa Arrizabalaga to join Real Madrid on loan for the entire 2023/24 campaign.
As a result, they started their search for a new keeper, and have now signed Petrovic from New England Revolution.
Petrovic only joined the Major League Soccer outfit last year, but he made a huge impression during a short time.
Manchester United were initially interested in signing him, but they were put off by the asking price on the table.
United were reluctant to pay more than €10m for him. The Blues have now paid €15m. The deal could rise to €20m.
Robert Sanchez has been Chelsea's first-choice keeper this season, but Petrovic should provide strong competition.
Chelsea are still in the transfer market for another acquisition, and they are looking to sign another offensive player.
Mauricio Pochettino is interested in Lyon's Bradley Barcola, but the French outfit have no desire of selling him for now.
