Guendouzi set for Italy move

Lazio are to seal a move to sign France international midfielder Matteo Guendouzi this summer, in a deal worth around £15.6 million. The former Arsenal midfielder will leave Marseille in favour of a transfer to Italy, where he will sign a five-year deal with the Rome outfit.

Guendouzi is no stranger to controversy, after he fell out with multiple players at the Emirates Stadium, and the club's hierarchy opted not to keep the youngster and loaned him to Hertha Berlin and Marseille respectively. A permanent transfer to the club followed.

However, even Marseille have decided not to keep the central midfielder, and the opportunity to move to Italy appears to be one that the player will not turn down.

The 24-year-old played around 80 times in Ligue 1 for Marseille during two spells, one being a loan transfer. With 7 caps to his name, Guendouzi is hopeful that a deal to take him elsewhere will boost his chances of regular international recognition. The player also has a sell-on clause in his Lazio deal, and Arsenal are set to receive around £3.1 million as part of their own sell-on clause in the deal that took him to Marseille.
