Man Utd signing confirms speaking with David de Gea

Manchester United signing Sergio Reguilon has confirmed that he spoke with David de Gea before joining the club this summer.

The Spaniard was signed by the Red Devils as an emergency left-back following injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

He arrived from Tottenham Hotspur on loan before the deadline, and could make his debut following the international break.

Speaking in his first interview, Reguilon revealed that he spoke with De Gea, who only had good words to say about United.

He said: "I spoke a lot with David and he told me about the club. He told me you are coming to the best club in England."

"All these players [like De Gea] are legends over in Spain, because I follow a lot of the Premier League."

Reguilon became out-of-favour at Spurs with Destiny Udogie and Ben Davies preferred ahead of him in the left-back spot.

Hence, it was a no-brainer to join United on loan. The Red Devils have the option to break the deal at the beginning of 2024.
