Chelsea considering January swoop for English striker
Chelsea are considering a January swoop for Brentford striker Ivan Toney amid their goalscoring woes up front.
The London giants spent £400 million on new signings in the summer transfer window, but they did not sign a marquee striker.
They brought in Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal to lead the line, but he has guilty of missing clear-cut scoring opportunities.
Christopher Nkunku can of course play in the number nine role, but he is currently out until January with a knee problem.
This could force the club to spend in the transfer market in January and they have Toney in their sights, as per Evening Standard.
Toney is currently banned from playing until mid-January. He is serving an eight-month suspension for breaching betting rules.
Despite this, he is working hard on his fitness and will be permitted to train with his teammates following the international break.
Toney has already revealed his admiration for Arsenal and Liverpool in a recent YouTube interview. He is open to leaving Brentford.
