Man Utd want to replace Varane with Bundesliga star?

Manchester United could attempt to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba during next summer's transfer window.

The Red Devils looked at signing a new centre-back this summer, but they could not secure sufficient funds from player sales.

They had planned to offload Harry Maguire to sign an upgrade, but the Englishman refused to move to West Ham United.

As a result, the club could not invest in the department, but are likely to do so in 10 months' time, as per Manchester Evening News.

Tapsoba has been identified as the manager's top target. He is seen as a potential starter in future ahead of Raphael Varane.

Varane has been injury-prone throughout his career and he is back on the sidelines. He could be out of action for a few more weeks.

United can no longer rely on his services, and the club could pursue an athletic centre-back such as Tapsoba next summer.

Tapsoba is a strong ball playing defender with an aerial presence. He is also good with his clearances as well as his tackles.
