Erik ten Hag confirms defender boost for Brighton clash
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Lisandro Martinez is available for the Premier League clash against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
The Argentina international sustained a foot problem in the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal before the international break. He asked to be substituted after the hour mark at the Emirates Stadium.
Martinez did not play any part for Argentina in their World Cup qualifiers recently, but Ten Hag has today confirmed that the centre-back is fit to face the Seagulls at home.
The news is a huge boost for United, who are already without Raphael Varane with an injury. The Frenchman is anticipated to return to action before the next matchday.
Victor Lindelof is expected to partner Martinez in central defence tomorrow. The Swede has fully recovered from the illness which led to his substitution versus Arsenal.
United are currently on six points after four games into the campaign. Ten Hag will be hoping for a routine victory when Brighton visit Old Trafford in tomorrow's kick-off.
