Chelsea could be forced to sell Ian Maatsen
Chelsea could be forced to sell Ian Maatsen in January amid his reluctance to put pen-to-paper on a new contract at the club.
Maatsen impressed the Blues during the pre-season campaign and manager Mauricio Pochettino personally praised his displays.
However, the Blues decided to accept an offer worth £32m from Burnley on deadline day. It was Maatsen, who rejected the move.
The Dutchman will enter the final six months of his contract in January and as things stand, he has no plans of signing a long-term deal.
The Blues have proposed to extend his contract for six seasons, but the left-back appears in no mood to commit for such a long time.
As a result, reports claim that Chelsea could be forced to accept a cut-price deal for his services during the winter transfer window.
Maatsen could of course turn down the proposal. He can negotiate a pre-contract with an overseas club ahead of a free transfer next summer.
