Barcelona aim to beat Chelsea to Brazilian wonderkid
Barcelona are aiming to beat Chelsea to the signing of Corinthians midfielder Gabriel Moscardo in January, according to AS.
The teenager is regarded as one of the best young midfielders in Brazilian football. The Blues have been interested in him since the summer.
They have continued to keep contact with Corinthians, but AS claim that the Blaugrana are looking to beat them to his services.
The Catalan giants are keen on signing a young number six and manager Xavi Hernandez prefers an emerging player for the role.
Moscardo has been identified as a perfect fit, but he won't come on the cheap with Corinthians already turning down a huge bid.
The Blues recently proposed around €23 million for the youngster, but it could take at least €30m to persuade them into a sale.
Barcelona are in a better financial situation at the moment, but they still can't afford to pay the entire fee in a single payment.
