Bruno Guimaraes signs new deal; with reported Barcelona clause

Newcastle United have signed Brazilian star Bruno Guimaraes to a new contract at St James Park, but it appears a special clause has been inserted into the player's new deal. It is understood that Barcelona will be able to secure the player's signature for less than 20 million euros than the player's market value should the Nou Camp side come calling.

Guimaraes has made it clear that it is his dream to eventually play for Barcelona, and he personally requested that a clause would be included in a new contract.

The versatile Rio De Janiero-born midfielder, who can play in defence or in defensive midfield as well as his preferred central midfield role, caught the eye since moving to Newcastle, scoring 10 Premier League goals in 55 appearances. Prior to that, an impressive spell at Lyon is what saw the Toon Army spend 40 million euros to sign the now 25-year-old.

Last week, Guimaraes signed a fresh deal at the club penning a contract on a five-year deal.

The player has been an important part of Eddie Howe reversing the fortunes of Newcastle United.
