Douglas Luiz opens up on potential Arsenal move in January
Arsenal's long pursuit of Aston Villa defensive midfielder Douglas Luiz is expected to continue well into the January transfer window, despite reported interest from Man City and Man Utd in the Brazilian. The midfielder has caught the eye with some impressive displays this season, and the player has opened up on talk of a potential Villa Park departure.
Arsenal have been linked with a bid of around £63 million to sign the midfielder in January, while Man Utd are ready to trump the Gunners' bid and pay even more to sign the player should he be available.
Aston Villa manager Unai Emery wants to keep hold of Luiz, and will do all he can to persuade the player that his future will be in Birmingham. Luiz recently signed a new deal after Arsenal bid £50 million for the player last year.
Luiz said of his future at the club: "My focus is totally here. I don't spend a lot of time looking at the stories. I see them, but I don't focus on that and I'm not looking at it every day. My head is here at Aston Villa."
