Chelsea defender wanted by Lyon on loan

Chelsea defender Benoit Badiashile has emerged as a loan target for Lyon during the January transfer window.

The Frenchman started the campaign on the sidelines with a hamstring injury and he only recently made his comeback.

Since his return, he has been an undisputed starter for the Blues, but this has not ended speculation over his future.

According to Foot Mercato, Les Gones are aiming to land him on a short-term loan as they look to climb up the table.

The Ligue 1 outfit have had a dismal start to the season and they are currently 16th in the table with only 13 points.

The club have found momentum with back-to-back wins, but still have work to do to move clear of the drop zone.

It seems unlikely that Chelsea will accept the proposal as Badiashile is one of the guaranteed starters in central defence.

With Wesley Fofana out with a long-term knee injury, Badiashile should be assured of his starting spot for the season.
