Pochettino provides fitness update on Nkunku
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has said that Christopher Nkunku could make his debut against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup quarter-final tomorrow.
The Frenchman was in the matchday squad for the 2-0 win over Sheffield United in the Premier League, but he did not get the chance to make his first bow for the club in any competition.
Pochettino has now revealed that he is handling the playmaker with caution following his recovery from a serious knee injury. He added that he could be involved for 20 minutes on Tuesday.
He said: "I saw today he was much better than the day before we played against Sheffield United, so maybe it increases the possibility he will be involved. How I saw him today, maybe he can play 20 minutes."
The Blues suffered a heavy 4-1 loss to the Magpies in the Premier League earlier this season and they face another huge challenge against Eddie Howe's side at Stamford Bridge tomorrow.
