Timo Werner signs for Tottenham
Tottenham will seal a deal to sign forward Timo Werner today; as RB Leipzig have agreed terms for a season long loan deal for the German international. Werner hopes that an impressive season for Spurs will boost his chances of a place in Germany's squad for Euro 2024 next summer, and also guarantee a return to the Premier League, where Werner previous played with a largely unsuccessful spell with Chelsea.
It is understood that the loan will cost Spurs around 3 million euros until May; from there on Tottenham can sign Werner on a permanent basis for 20 million euros. Daniel Levy the Tottenham chairman is known as a fierce negotiator, and is believed to be delighted that Leipzig have agreed to let Werner leave for such a small fee. Tottenham hope Werner can provide the goals missing since Harry Kane's departure for Bayern Munich last summer.
It is understood that a deal can be announced as early as this evening, if Tottenham can complete a medical with Werner before then. The club wishes to announce Werner as they expect at least three more faces to join before the end of the transfer window.
