Arsenal ready to pay big for Martin Zubimendi
Arsenal are ready to trigger the release clause in the contract of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi this month.
The Spaniard was a top target for the Gunners last winter but he made the decision to stay put with his hometown club.
In the summer, Zubimendi said that he did not want a new challenge and was excited to play in the Champions League.
This has not ended the speculation over his future and it is claimed that Arsenal are willing to pay his €60m release clause.
Mundo Deportivo, however, claim that the midfielder is still reluctant to leave and Arsenal face a huge task of persuading him.
Zubimendi has been a key player from the number six role and he has been highlighted as a major target for Barcelona too.
However, the midfielder has been determined to stay put with Sociedad and could have the same stance in the coming weeks.
Arsenal may have to look at an alternative choice for the transfer window. They are interested in Everton's Amadou Onana.
