Djalo signs for Juve

Juventus have pulled off a major coup in signing Portuguese centre-back Tiago Djalo from Lille for a fee of around 12 million euros. The centre-back is seen as one of Portugal's best defenders and Juve have beaten the likes of Liverpool, Genoa and Marseille to secure the Amadora-born player.

Dialo began his career in his home country, before a move to AC Milan followed in 2019. The player was not able to make the grade at the San Siro, and was almost immediately sold to French side Lille in the summer of 2019 for a cut price 5 million euros. Djalo has excelled in France. In 78 league games, he has bagged 3 goals but helped catapult Lille to the Champions League in recent seasons.

He is expected to be a member of Portugal's squad for Euro 2024 this summer, and has currently only appeared for Portugal's youth sides.

The player flew to Italy on a private jet yesterday and has undergone a medical and will agree personal terms this afternoon before being unveiled as Juventus' newest signing.
