Barcelona enter race for Kalvin Phillips
West Ham will have some competition to sign Man City midfielder Kalvin Phillips, after Barcelona apparently declared their interest in signing the England international on a loan deal until the end of the current campaign. Barca are several points behind Girona and Real Madrid at the top of the league and the club's hierarchy are keen to add strength in depth before the end of the transfer window.
West Ham have already approached City and are apparently locked in talks with Pep Guardiola's side, but have been unable to agree a fee for the England international.
With Euro 2024 looming, Phillips knows that his opportunity to get into the England team on a regular basis depends on how often he plays before the end of the season, and Barca may not be able to provide that. West Ham, on the other hand, have suffered several injuries and are looking to add some new players in January.
Barcelona are ready to pay as much as £250,000 to bring in the player on loan, which apparently has matched the Hammers' bid for Phillips.
