Liverpool in the front seat to sign Dutch midfielder

Liverpool are reportedly deemed favourites to land the signature of Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta this summer.

The Netherlands international has been a mainstay from the number 10 role for Atalanta this term, scoring 10 goals and providing four assists.

His form has caught the eye of Juventus in Serie A but Gazzetta dello Sport claim that the Reds have an upper hand over the Bianconeri.

Atalanta are eyeing at least €50m to sanction the Dutchman's sale and the Bianconeri are unlikely to afford the fee due to FFP concerns.

Koopmeiners has operated from an attacking midfield position for Atalanta, but he was a regular from a holding role at AZ Alkmaar.

His versatility would be a boost for the Reds. He could be considered as a replacement for Thiago Alcantara ahead of next season.

The Spaniard joined the Reds with huge hype few years ago, but he has been disappointing amid his consistent injury setbacks.

He could be released when his contract expires on June 30.
