Chelsea enter race to sign Athletic Bilbao winger

Chelsea have entered the race to sign Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams during this summer's transfer window, according to The Telegraph.

The Blues have had another under-par campaign in the Premier League and they are currently languishing in the bottom half of the table.

This is expected to trigger another spending spree in the summer and it is claimed that Williams is one of the top targets for the Blues.

Williams has the ability to play on both the right and left wing with equal consistency. His performances have grabbed plenty of attention.

He has six goals and 11 assists to his name for Bilbao this term. He would be an upgrade on the likes of Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke.

The Blues are not alone in the pursuit of the Spaniard. Arsenal are long-term admirers and are also expected to make an approach.

Real Madrid are also said to be keeping tabs on the winger, though they are likely to prioritise a new striker and a central defender.
