Man Utd eye Joao Gomes as replacement for key star
Manchester United have identified Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Joao Gomes as a successor to Casemiro this summer.
Casemiro has been widely linked with a move to Saudi Arabia and a departure could materialise during the next transfer window.
United are prepared to replace the 32-year-old with a young number six and they have earmarked Gomes as the ideal candidate.
Mirror report that the Red Devils have been keeping tabs on his progress and they are prepared to make an offer of around £40m.
Gomes was on the radar of Liverpool before his move to Wolves. He has adapted brilliantly to the demands of the Premier League.
The Brazilian will want to make the next step in his career and United could provide him with the perfect platform next season.
Meanwhile, Wolves are aware of the interest in his services and have already started the search for a potential replacement.
Pedro Neto has also been linked with an exit, but a deal seems unlikely due to persistent injury problems in the current season.
