Chelsea to miss out on Ivorian sensation to Arsenal?
Chelsea could reportedly miss out on signing Sporting Lisbon defender Ousmane Diomande amid interest from Arsenal.
The 20-year-old is considered as one of the best young centre-backs in the world and he has been tipped to pursue a bigger challenge.
Arsenal were interested in signing him during his time in Denmark and reports claim that they have already done the ground work.
The club have already spoken with the player's representatives. They are now the prime candidates to land his services ahead of Chelsea.
There is currently a €80m release clause in the Ivorian's deal at Sporting, but the Portuguese outfit could accept a slightly lower fee.
Arsenal currently have William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes as the undisputed starters at the heart of the defence under Mikel Arteta.
However, the club may not want to rest on their laurels. Arteta may consider Diomande as a strong competitor to the duo next term.
Jakub Kiwior could head for the exit door if Diomande arrives.
