Arsenal eyeing surprise deal for Brighton star

Arsenal are one of the clubs interested in signing Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba this summer.

The Gunners are expected to invest on a new holding midfielder in the next transfer window and they are looking at different options.

Martin Zubimendi has been repeatedly linked with the club, but the Spaniard recently said that he won't force an exit from Sociedad.

Hence, a deal is far from assured and it is now reported that the hierarchy are keeping tabs on Baleba, who joined Brighton last summer.

The Cameroon-born star has made over 30 appearances for the Seagulls this term and has impressed with his precise distribution.

Brighton consider him as one of their most valuable assets and it is reported that they could be ready to sell him for £55 million.

Arsenal have a busy summer ahead of them and they could part ways with Thomas Partey, Jorginho, Mohamed Elneny and Albert Lokonga.

The Gunners could look into signing a young number six and Baleba would be a quality signing, having impressed in his time at Brighton.
