Arsenal tracking van Persie's talented son Shaqueel
Arsenal are monitoring the progress of Feyenoord youngster Shaqueel van Persie, the son of former forward Robin, who happened to be born in London during his father's spell with the Gunners. It is understood that Robin, who left Arsenal on frosty terms with a move to bitter rivals Manchester United, wants to make amends and is encouraging his son to make a move to North London.
Despite having not yet made an appearance for Feyenoord, van Persie is ready to return to his country of birth and try to force his way into the club's second string team next season. Shaqueel actually began his development as an 11-year-old at Man City, but left two years later for Feyenoord. With six appearances for the Netherland's under-17 side, the 6 foot 1 youngster is fast capturing the attention of scouts all over Europe. Arsenal may need to pay as much as 10 million euros to secure a deal for the starlet.
Rumours from Holland suggest that even Liverpool could enter the race for the player, as Feyenoord's former coach Arne Slot begins life at Anfield. Slot is understood to have a list of ten players, half of whom play in the Eredivisie or for Dutch clubs.
