Arsenal want to sign Spanish winger starring at Euro 2024

Arsenal are interested in signing Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams during the ongoing transfer window.

The Gunners are currently on the cusp of landing Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna. The defender has already agreed personal terms over a five-year contract.

The club will follow up with more deals and The Athletic claim that a new wide player could be pursued. Manager Mikel Arteta would prefer to sign Williams.

Williams was sensational for Bilbao in the recent campaign with eight goals and 19 assists in all competitions. He has been tipped to secure a bigger challenge.

Arsenal can sign him by triggering his €50m release clause, but Williams' wage demands are a concern. He is said to be eyeing around €300,000 per week.

This is the same reason why Chelsea have bowed out of the race. Arsenal are still keen, but they will have to make a huge wage outlay to persuade him to join.

Williams has been superb for Spain at the ongoing European Championship. He has two goal contributions from his five appearances thus far.
