Arsenal could move for 43-goal star after Nketiah exit
Arsenal could step up their interest in signing Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres after parting ways with Eddie Nketiah.
Nketiah has been a fringe player for the Gunners and he is likely to move on, considering the club want to land a marquee striker.
It is now reported that Marseille have made an initial move and they have proposed to sign Nketiah on loan with an obligation to buy.
The Gunners are still discussing financial terms with the Ligue 1 outfit, but Les Phoceens are optimistic of securing an agreement.
In that case, Arsenal are likely to step up their pursuit for a marquee striker and Gyokeres is reportedly the prime target on their radar.
Gyokeres was sensational for Sporting in his debut campaign. He scored a stunning 43 goals alongside 15 assists from 53 appearances.
The Swede underwent a minor knee procedure at the end of the season, but has returned in fine shape for the pre-season campaign.
Sporting are likely to demand his €100m release clause to sell him.
