Aston Villa edge closer to Joao Felix deal

Joao Felix news

Joao Felix to join Aston Villa?

Aston Villa are increasingly confident that a deal to sign Portuguese international attacker Joao Felix can be arranged during this summer transfer window, as the player looks set to leave Atletico Madrid after five years and two loan spells at Chelsea and Barcelona. Villa are rumoured to be on the verge of smashing their transfer record to sign the 24-year-old.

Joao Felix, who has 41 caps to his name and 8 goals, has told his agent to do whatever it takes to make the move to Unai Emery's side, and the feeling is mutual at Villa Park as Emery sees Felix as the player that will help push his club to the next level. Villa have secured Champions League football for the upcoming campaign.

Several teams had expressed interest in a deal for Joao Felix, but none on a permanent basis, however Aston Villa are confident that the player has not yet reached his full potential and are expected to pay around 75 million euros to Atleti for the transfer.

A deal is likely to be arranged in the next ten days, as the player is currently in pre-season training with Atletico Madrid. His agent has already begun talks with Aston Villa and an agreement over terms has been reached, now it is up to the two clubs to make an arrangement.
