Reading manager Steve Coppell has dispelled all speculation on his future at the club and has confirmed that he shall stick onto the club for one more season at least.

Reading's relegation from the Premiership to the Championship in the recently concluded 2007-2008 season flared up speculation on Coppell and his interest to hold onto the reigns at Reading.

Many supposed that he shall move on. Steve Coppell was appointed the manager of Reading in 2003 and after estasblishing Reading a force to reckon with in the English Championship, he guided them to the English top flight after Reading won promotion to the Premiership at the end of the 2005-2006 season.

In the 2006-2007 season the Royals finished eight in the Premiership table but in 2007-2007 they slumped to the bottom three and were relegated to the Championship on the last day of the season.

Coppell said on the club's official website:

"I'm very pleased to be staying. After the end of the season I needed some time to reflect and think about what was the best course of action for both myself and for Reading Football Club.

"The reaction of the supporters had a bearing on my decision, as did my relationship with the Chairman and everyone at the club.

"I'm now looking forward to the new season and the significant challenge of trying to regain our place in the Premier League."
