Everton prepare move for German midfield starlet
Everton manager Sean Dyche has been given a glowing report on the progress of Germany under-21 midfielder Jens Castrop, as the Toffees prepare for a transfer approach for the Dusseldorf-born player. The FC Nurnberg player had been promoted to the club's starting XI last season, with the second tier club making Castrop an important member of their first-team.
Castrop has appeared for Germany's youth national teams at every level from under-16 to under-21, and is very highly regarded in his homeland. Formerly of FC Koln, after a successful loan spell to Nurnberg in 2022, the club opted to sign Castrop on a permanent 400k euro deal. This may be good business after Everton were reportedly quoted £5 million to sign the midfielder.
The versatile youngster, whose preferred position is as a central midfielder but can also play at right-back or right midfield, is excited about the possibility of a transfer to England but also has some options from Wolfsburg and a return to his former club, Koln.
Sean Dyche is looking to add at least 3 new players to his squad before the transfer window slams shut on August 30th.
