Man Utd eyeing shock swoop for French midfielder
Manchester United are eyeing a shock move for French midfielder Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer, according to Le Figaro.
The Red Devils have already bolstered their midfield with Manuel Ugarte and he is expected to become an undisputed starter from the no.6 role.
However, they are aiming to add more quality into their ranks and reports claim that the club are keen on landing Rabiot too.
Rabiot has been a free-agent since parting ways with Juventus on July 1. He declined the option to extend his stay on same wages.
He is currently eyeing around £165,000 per week to join another European club. On top of this, he is eyeing £13m as a signing-on fee.
This is well within the range of the Red Devils, but the big question is whether the transfer would make sense in the long-term.
Rabiot will be turning 30 before the end of the season and he may not provide any resale value like Casemiro and Christian Eriksen.
It would not represent a good piece of transfer business.
