Arsenal strongly watching Sporting Lisbon sensation
Arsenal are keeping a close eye on the performances of Sporting Lisbon centre-back Ousmane Diomande ahead of the New Year, according to Portuguese outlet Record.
The Gunners are long-term admirers of the Ivory Coast international and they were heavily interested in signing him last year. However, their interest diminished earlier this year amid his poor form at Sporting.
Diomande has managed to redeem himself with outstanding performances under Ruben Amorim this campaign and Record claim that the Gunners are continuing to monitor him.
The 20-year-old has a release clause worth €80 million in his current deal, but Sporting are prepared to negotiate on the transfer fee at the end of the season.
Amorim stayed as Sporting's manager this summer, but there is a high possibility that he could pursue a bigger challenge elsewhere pretty soon.
This could pave the way for the departure of Diomande alongside other high-profile stars including Viktor Gyokeres and Goncalo Inacio.
Sporting are top of their league with 24 points from eight games.
