Manchester United have received a big boost in the race to sign Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies on a free transfer next summer, according to Bild.

The Canadian ace will enter the last six months of his contract next month and reports claim that he has yet to commit his future to the Bavarian giants.

Davies recently reduced his wage demands to find an agreement, but his agent is said to be angry after the way Bayern conducted the negotiations.

Bayern spoke with Davies' representative via a video session where sporting director Max Eberl was absent. This has infuriated the player's camp.

Davies' agent Nick Househ is now prepared to speak with other interested clubs in United and Real Madrid. He will hold a meeting with both teams in January.

United will be hoping to beat Madrid to his services. A lucrative wage package and a huge signing-on fee will be required to persuade the defender to join them.

Davies is eyeing around £250,000 per week, as per reports.
