Maresca explains Palmer's absence vs Astana

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca reiterated the reason behind the absence of Cole Palmer for the Conference League clash against Astana.
The Blues registered a convincing 3-1 win away from home and they have now guaranteed their spot in the round of 16 of the competition.
Palmer was one of the many first-team stars missing. The midfielder is also ineligible, having not been registered for the league phase.
Maresca said the same when asked by a reporter who was unaware.
He said: "I said already many times, we left out of our Conference League squad a few players."
"The reason why is to protect them. It's not only Cole Palmer, it’s Romeo Lavia, Wesley Fofana, so different players."
Chelsea have now won six games in a row in all competitions and they will be aiming to extend the streak against Brentford at Stamford Bridge.
The Bees have been sensational on their home patch with seven wins this term, but have picked up just one point on their travels this campaign.
