Chelsea want to sign River Plate wonderkid ahead of Man City
Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing River Plate wonderkid Franco Mastantuono ahead of Manchester City next summer.
The Blues have made several young signings from South America. They are poised to sign wonderkids such as Estevao and Kendry Paez next summer.
The club are eyeing the next big thing from South America and they are currently monitoring Mastantuono, who is also on the radar of Man City.
Mastantuono can't join the Blues until he turns 18 next summer, but the club are aiming to secure a quick agreement to beat their league rivals.
There is currently a release clause worth £37 million in his contract. River Plate are expected to hold out for the same figure for his transfer.
Chelsea could be willing to pay a slightly higher package if River Plate accept a long-term payment plan for the highly-rated teenager.
The Blues have utilised a similar tactic to sign the likes of Estevao and Paez and will be hoping to win the race ahead of Pep Guardiola's side.
