Arsenal unlikely to sign Newcastle United star - David Ornstein
Arsenal are unlikely to land the signature of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes at the end of the campaign, according to David Ornstein.
The Gunners are expected to bolster their midfield department during the summer with Jorginho and Thomas Partey due to leave on free transfers.
The club are in advanced talks to land Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. An agreement could be formally reached at the beginning of the next window.
The Gunners have also been linked with a move for Guimaraes, but Ornstein does not believe the club will have the funds to afford both midfielders.
Arsenal are expected to land a marquee striker from the transfer market and they could also bring another back-up goalkeeper for David Raya.
With the huge outlay required for every position, Ornstein has dismissed the prospect of Arsenal landing both Guimaraes and Zubimendi.
Zubimendi looks very much certain to join the Gunners. There is a chance that Guimaraes will continue to stay with the Magpies next term.
