Chelsea suffer double injury blow before Brentford clash
Chelsea have suffered a double injury blow ahead of the Premier League clash against Brentford this weekend.
The Blues jumped back into the top four on Thursday night following a 1-0 win over London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Enzo Fernandez bagged the only goal of the derby from a Cole Palmer assist.
Following the game, manager Enzo Maresca provided an update on Wesley Fofana and Romeo Lavia, who sustained muscle injuries in training.
He said: [Fofana had] a muscle problem a few days ago and we are waiting for more checks. [Lavia] for Sunday is out. We don’t know [about a timeline] yet."
Fofana and Lavia have immense potential, but both have been on the sidelines with several injuries, which is a major concern.
The Blues should consider parting ways with the duo in the summer. They need to pursue replacements without any injury records.
Chelsea take on the Bees on the road this weekend. They need to keep on winning to qualify for the Champions League next term.
The Blues are fourth in the table, but only five points separate them from Brighton & Hove Albion, who are placed eighth at the moment.
