Pistone fails Boro trial

32-year-old Italian defender Alessandro Pistone has failed to win a contract with Middlesbrough after he joined the club on trial. The ex-Everton, Newcastle and Inter defender has been out of club since Everton released him during the summer.

Gareth Southgate has decided against offering Pistone a contract as it is believed that he is not fully fit and Southgate is not willing to offer the Italian a 2 year contract that Pistone requires.

PIstone has revealed that he rejected offers from Romania and that he has other offers in England and Serie A that he will pursue.
