Givairo Read

Givairo Read is one of the Eredivisie's brightest young talents, who has emerged as an important member of Feyenoord's first-team squad in recent years. The talented full-back is widely expected to appear for the Netherlands international side having already made appearances for the under-19's. 

The 18-year-old, who was born in Amsterdam, signed for Feyenoord from FC Volendam in 2023 for a small fee after being convinced to join the club by manager Robin van Persie. Since his arrival, and in particular the 2024-25 season, he has been an essential member of van Persie's squad having appeared in over 30 games in total for the De Kuip club.

Known for his bursts of pace on the right flank, it is no surprise that he is highly coveted by many top European clubs, and even Liverpool have been recently linked with the player in the wake of the departure this summer of Trent Alexander-Arnold. 

On March 16 2025, Read caught the eye with a stunning performance against FC Twente. Not only was Read recognised for his defensive solidity, he also contributed three assists for his teammates. It is fair to say that Read is now one of the first names on the team sheet for manager Robin van Persie. Furthermore, in April 2025 he signed a new deal with his club and was named the Johan Cruyff talent of the month. Not just that, he was instrumental in solidifying Feyenoord's backline with 3 clean sheets in four matches in the same month.

He is also a versatile young player, having played as a left-back earlier in his career and also stepping up into midfield if necessary. This tactical flexibility makes him one of the best young players in Holland.

Read has a quality right foot for crossing and good vision in the final third. He offers overlapping runs, and a drive and stamina for 90 minutes.

Read is a name to keep an eye on for the next few years as he could be one of the best full-backs of his generation.
