Manchester United have made the first move to sign Arsenal target Viktor Gyokeres this summer, according to L'Equipe in France.

The Red Devils are expected to land another marquee striker this summer and they have identified Gyokeres as one of the leading targets.

Gyokeres wants Champions League football at his next club, and United can offer him the same if they win the Europa League tomorrow.

It is now reported that the Red Devils are the only major club, who have made an approach to sign the Sweden international this summer.

Nothing else is specified. The story could be agent-driven and it could be focused on persuading Arsenal to make a formal transfer offer.

Sporting director Andrea Berta has already spoken to Gyokeres regarding the project and the striker has reportedly been convinced too.

It will be interesting to see whether the Gunners step up their pursuit of Gyokeres, who has netted a staggering 53 goals this campaign.

Sporting CP are prepared to sanction his sale for £55m.
