Delap wanted by United but competition exists

Manchester United have agreed the framework of a deal for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap amid interest from Chelsea, as per ESPN.

The Red Devils are about to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers playmaker Matheus Cunha. Their next focus is a young striker.

Delap is the number one choice for the Mancunian giants and they have now informed Ipswich Town that they are ready to pay his £30 million relegation release clause, according to ESPN.

However, a deal won't be straightforward. Chelsea among others are expected to make similar proposals. Delap will make the final decision over his next club.

Chelsea could have an edge over the Red Devils after qualifying for the Champions League. United won't be playing in any European competition next season.

Delap netted an impressive 12 goals in his breakthrough Premier League campaign for Ipswich. He is expected to finalise his next club before representing England at the Under-21 European Championship from mid-June.
