Chelsea pushing to sign 22yo striker ahead of rivals

Chelsea are pushing to land the signature of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike amid interest from several European clubs.

The Blues are expected to strengthen their frontline for the Club World Cup and Ekitike has been earmarked as the prime target.

The 22-year-old had a good 2024/25 season with 22 goals and 12 assists in all competitions. He has a gentleman's agreement to leave for the right price.

Frankfurt are prepared to sanction his sale for around £84 million, but the Blues are hoping to secure his services for a lesser fee.

The club are poised to speed up negotiations with the Bundesliga outfit in the coming days in order to find an agreement on terms.

Chelsea are expected to spend big after qualifying for the Champions League. They will receive at least £86m to participate in the league phase.

The club could secure another £100m by reaching the final stages of the Club World Cup. Hence, there could be a huge spending spree.
