Newcastle to beat Man Utd to signing 20-goal winger?

Newcastle United could beat Manchester United to the signing of Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo this summer.

The Cameroon international had a fantastic 2024/25 campaign with the Bees, scoring 20 goals in the Premier League.

Bees manager Thomas Frank has opened the door for his exit at the right price and Mbeumo could move to the Magpies.

United have also held talks with the 25-year-old, but Eddie Howe's side have an advantage with Champions League football.

The Magpies are yearning for a marquee winger on the right flank and could guarantee Mbeumo with a starting position.

Brentford value the attacker at around £50 million. The Magpies could be willing to pay the transfer fee over multiple years.

Mbeumo has also been linked with Premier League champions Liverpool, but he may not be guaranteed with regular minutes.

With Mohamed Salah's extension, the door has definitely closed for Mbeumo to secure a regular starting role on the right wing.

Arsenal have also been linked in the past, but they are no longer keen.
