Chelsea targeting French star after Liam Delap deal
Chelsea are still interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike during the summer transfer window, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Blues have sealed an agreement to land Liam Delap from Ipswich Town and he will undergo his medical this week before penning a long-term deal.
The club are still keen on landing another marquee striker and reports claim that Ekitike is the number one priority at the current point of time.
The 22-year-old netted 22 goals and provided 12 assists last campaign. He has a terrific work rate and can get behind defences with his immense pace.
His qualities have convinced the Blues hierarchy and it remains to be seen whether they can secure an agreement with the Bundesliga giants.
Eintracht reportedly want £84 million for his services, but the Blues remain optimistic of negotiating an initial fee of around £60 million for him.
Manchester United are also interested in the former Reims man, but they are trailing in the race due to no European football next season.
